Guitar 61 “Arrick’s Alaska”

Guitar 61 “Arrick’s Alaska”

Arrick wanted a guitar modeled after his Grandpa Dean’s Martin D-41.  This spruce top came from a log that I got from the very same Grandpa Dean, and it is some of the best spruce I have ever used.  The shell soundhole ring and purfling is paua abalone from New Zealand.

Paua is more colorful than the green abalone that is commonly     used on instruments.

The fingerboard inlay is a landscape of Alaska at night.  The snowy mountains shine in the moonlight, and the northern lights shimmer overhead.  Ursa Major and the north star round out the scene.  The inlay is made of mother of pearl, mirrored glass. and silver wire.
