Selkie is a tenor mandola I built for Tracy Spring.  The top is redwood, and the back and sides are cocobolo.  The scale length is 23″ and the body is 12″ across.  With the long string length and floating bridge, this small, guitar-shaped box puts out a lot of sound.

The Selkie is from Irish mythology; a seal who sheds her skin and becomes a woman.  The inlays are made from glass and shell.

Tracy Spring and Selkie.  My favorite part of being a luthier is hearing what musicians can do with my instruments.  Amazing!  Catch Tracy in concert.  TracySpring.com
